Express Entry
Express entry is Canada’s flagship point based economic immigration system managing the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW) and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST).
You will need an express entry profile to be eligible for express entry draws conducted under one or more of the above programs.
Documents required to create an express entry profile include
- a valid passport.
- your language test results from IELTS general, Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP general), PTE core (Pearson Test of English), TEF Canada: Test d’évaluation de français or TCF Canada: Test de connaissance du français. You can gain more points if you have one of both Canada’s official languages.
- Canadian education or educational credential assessment (ECA) report from one of Canada’s designated organizations or professional bodies.
- A written job offer from an employer in Canada
- Proofs of your work experience
- Certificate of qualification in a trade occupation
- Provincial Nomination (if any)
Upon receiving your invitation, you will need to submit your profile along with your fees, your medical evaluation, your Police certificates and your proof of funds.
Most people with one year of work experience would become eligible for express entry profile but getting an invitation is highly competitive. Enhancing your CRS score is a continuous process. You could get more points when you learn French/English as your second language, study at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada, gain work experience in Canada employed in a job falling in either of TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, TEER 3.
Besides the above three programs, you might be eligible for one of express entry’s category draws. The current categories are French-language proficiency, Healthcare occupations, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) occupations, Trade occupations, Transport occupations and Agriculture and agri-food occupations.
