Statutory Declarations in mississauga

Statutory declarations are required as a part of applications such as the ones for immigration, government benefits, insurance claims. They are also used in court proceedings and other applications as well.

Statutory declarations are a statement of facts that the person stating them are declaring them to be true (to their knowledge, belief and information). Statutory declarations are made in writing, confirming the identity of the individual making the declaration before stating the facts. The last step involves signing the statutory declaration in the presence of a notary public or a commissioner of oaths duly appointed before he, himself, signs under his seal and stamp certifying that the document was made under oath.

Evidences or other documents in support of the statutory declaration are added as exhibits to statutory declarations.

One important caution to be considered in executing a statutory declaration is that under the Canada Evidence Act and Criminal Code, false declaration or statements are charged with perjury and punished with imprisonment up to 14 years upon conviction.
